Know someone who’s worrying, anxious, low?
We have created a guide to show what support is on offer in Hartlepool - in collaboration with mental health service providers.
Support in your GP Surgeries
Primary Care Mental Health Practitoners
Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners are trained mental health doctors, nurses and wellbeing coaches which sit down with people who may be struggling and help to find a solution to their issues through signposting to a local service.
Appointments with a Mental Health Practitioner will usually take 20 minutes where the Practitioner will be able to guide you to useful resources for your situation, teach certain techniques to better mental health or signpost to a dedicated local service that’s right for the issue.
Social Prescribers
By understanding your needs, interests and what’s important to you, social prescribers connect you with activities, groups and services in your community - so you can become more in control of your physical and emotional health. Ask your surgery if Social Prescribing is available to you.
Crisis Support
What's a mental health crisis?
A mental health crisis is when you feel at breaking point, and you need urgent help. You might be:
-
feeling extremely anxious and having panic attacks or flashbacks
-
feeling suicidal, or self-harming
-
having an episode of hypomania or mania, (feeling very high) or psychosis (maybe hearing voices, or feeling very paranoid).
-
You might be dealing with bereavement, addiction, abuse, money problems, relationship breakdown, workplace stress, exam stress, or housing problems. You might be managing a mental health diagnosis. Or you might not know why you're feeling this way now.
If you are in crisis:
phone 111 and option 2.
